  • Can I get treatment on my first day?
Absolutely. We offer treatment during your new patient appointment. We want to help you feel better as soon as possible.
  • Do you accept my insurance?
We accept and are providers for Avera, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), DakotaCare, Sanford, Wellmark, and many others. It is always best to check with your insurance carrier to determine if you have chiropractic coverage and if we are participating providers before your appointment. If your insurance covers chiropractic, but we are not listed as a provider, let us know and we will provide you a form to send directly to your insurance carrier. Your insurance carrier will either send you a check or apply the charges to your annual deductible and notify you accordingly. Medicare Part B We accept and are providers for Medicare Part B. With regards to chiropractic, Medicare Part B does not pay for everything. According to the Medicare website, Medicare Part B only covers manipulation of the spine if medically necessary to correct a subluxation when provided by a chiropractor or other qualified provider. Medicare may not cover the cost of your manipulation if they feel the services are performed too frequently if the services do not relate to the treatment of the spine, and/or if the care is determined to be maintenance care. Other items not covered are listed within our Medical Necessity Form. Accident Insurance If you are injured in a motor vehicle accident, we encourage you to make immediate contact with your automobile insurance carrier, even if you are not at fault. More often than not, policies carry a medical payments provision that can aid in covering costs related to the incident. If you have been injured, and will be seeking care at our office, please be sure to bring your automobile insurance information as well as a copy of the police report pertaining to your incident. This will guide us in filing insurance claims on your behalf to the appropriate party. Workman’s Compensation Insurance If you are injured on the job and chose to seek care at our office understand that there are rules that govern your ability to seek care with us. Chiropractors are licensed physicians in the state of South Dakota. You have 72 hours to report your injury to your employer. You must complete a First Report of Injury. You have the right to choose your initial physician/surgeon from all licensed physicians/surgeons in the state. You should notify your employer immediately once you have chosen the physician/surgeon. If you decide to change your choice of physician/surgeon, you should obtain approval from your employer. You may seek a second opinion without the employer’s approval at your own expense. If you have questions about your rights as an injured worker in the state, call the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation at 605.773.3101.

  • What should I expect as a new patient?
Step 1 | A “No Charge” Comprehensive Consultation: Our receptionist will welcome you and ask you to complete our required forms. Please be sure to detail accurately your health concerns. The doctor will meet with you for a comprehensive consultation to learn more about you and your personal health picture. At that time, he will be able to determine if chiropractic, rehabilitation, massage therapy, nutritional or weight counseling available to you in our office is a right fit. If the decision is made to move forward, care parameters will be discussed. If the care we render at our office is not a right fit, we will provide information for the right course of care as a courtesy and at no expense to you. You can rest assured knowing that nothing will be done without your consent. Step 2 | Comprehensive Physical, Orthopedic and Neurological Examination: After your consultation the doctor will give you a thorough physical, orthopedic and neurological examination. In this examination we will be measuring physical limitation outcomes and your ability or lack thereof to perform certain maneuvers. This important diagnostic information will allow the doctor to have a better understanding of your condition and how to best approach it from a correction perspective. If needed the doctor may take x-rays or chose to refer you out of office for additional consideration. Step 3 | X-ray: If required, our equipment provides imaging that will give the doctor additional diagnostic information to support or deny a need for care. As useful as they are in the modern world of medicine, it is fascinating to think that x-rays were happened upon by pure accident. Discovered in 1895 by Wilhelm Roentgen, x-rays allow health professionals to see through human tissue, which helps in diagnosing certain conditions such as broken bones, joint dislocations, fractures, bone spurs, osteoporosis and degenerative spinal issues to name a few. It is a true picture of ones bone structure and fascinating as well as extremely beneficial in the diagnosis of certain health conditions. Step 4 | Report of Findings: A report of findings appointment will be made so that the doctor of treatment can share the results of your testing; review of pertinent records, examinations, radiologic studies (if applicable) and response to first treatment. We ask that you bring a family member or friend with you to this appointment. This is a perfect time to bring any questions or concerns you may have to visit with your doctor of treatment with. • What is the Activator technique?
The Activator is a small handheld spring-loaded device used to adjust bones/joints in the spine. It is used to deliver a controlled force to move each individual vertebra back into correct position. It is gentle and carries minimal, to no soreness after care.
  • Why should I choose the Activator technique?
The activator technique is a precise and gentle approach to care. This is because the impulse delivered from the instrument is only to a specific joint. When a joint is out of alignment in the spine, it can impinge on nerve roots and cause pain. The device sends gentle force into the joint and moves it into proper position. The Activator technique corrects the misalignment without excessive force, twisting or cracking. The muscles in the injured area do not have time to guard against the quick force so the joint moves effortlessly. Our patients love the activator method because it is less stress on your body than manual adjustments.
  • Are there any side effects associated with the Activator technique?
There are no side-effects associated with the Activator technique. Unlike a manual chiropractic adjustment, the only joints that move are the ones that are being adjusted. This makes the activator method more comfortable and effective for patients. Usually after three adjustments with the activator method the patient experiences decreased pain and discomfort.
